Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using InCaseIDie. They govern your access to and use of our platform and services.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using InCaseIDie ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these terms from time to time; continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Description of Service

InCaseIDie is a digital vault service that allows users to securely store personal messages, passwords, and important information to be accessed by designated emergency contacts under specific conditions. The Service is intended for personal, non-commercial use.

3. Account Registration

You must provide accurate and complete information when registering. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

4. Vault Content

You retain full ownership of all content you store in your vault. By using the Service, you grant InCaseIDie a limited licence to store and transmit your content solely for the purpose of delivering the Service. You are solely responsible for the accuracy, legality, and appropriateness of your vault content. InCaseIDie does not review, access, or take responsibility for the content stored in your vault.

5. Emergency Contact Access

You acknowledge that designating an emergency contact grants that individual the ability to request access to your vault. Access is only permitted after your check-in deadline has passed. You are responsible for choosing emergency contacts you trust and for keeping contact information accurate. InCaseIDie is not liable for access granted to contacts you have authorised.

6. Encryption & Security

InCaseIDie uses 256-bit AES encryption to protect your vault data. Your vault contents are encrypted using a key derived from your vault password before being stored. This means that InCaseIDie - including its sole operator - cannot access, read, or recover the contents of your vault under any circumstances. We have no ability to decrypt your data. You are solely responsible for choosing a strong, unique vault password. A weak or easily guessable password may make your vault vulnerable to brute-force attacks. InCaseIDie cannot recover your vault password and cannot restore access to your vault if your password is lost or forgotten. While we take reasonable measures to secure our infrastructure, no system is completely immune to security risks. You acknowledge that InCaseIDie cannot guarantee absolute security and shall not be held liable for unauthorised access resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including compromised passwords chosen by the user.

7. Independent Operation

InCaseIDie is an independent project operated by a single individual, not a corporation or large organisation. While every effort is made to ensure reliability, security, and availability, you acknowledge that the Service is maintained by one person. Support response times, feature updates, and infrastructure changes reflect this. By using the Service you accept these limitations and agree that the operator's personal liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

8. Payment & Billing

The Free plan is available at no cost. The Premium plan is offered as a one-time lifetime payment with no recurring charges. All payments are processed securely through Stripe. All sales are final. We do not offer refunds except where required by applicable law. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us within 14 days of the transaction.

9. Prohibited Use

You may not use the Service to store or transmit any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable. You may not attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service. Violations may result in immediate account termination.

10. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Service. We may perform maintenance, updates, or experience outages. InCaseIDie shall not be liable for any loss or damage resulting from downtime or service interruptions.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through your dashboard settings. Upon deletion, all vault content will be permanently erased. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms without prior notice.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. InCaseIDie does not warrant that the Service will meet your specific requirements or that it will be error-free.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, InCaseIDie shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of your use of or inability to use the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months prior to the claim.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation or, if necessary, binding arbitration.

15. Contact
